PowerID Expands Channel Network in the Americas Growth in VAR and SI Partnerships Follows BAP Gen. 2 Release
Petah Tikva, Israel – August 26, 2008 – PowerID Ltd., the industry leader in Battery-Assisted, Passive (BAP) RFID technology, announced today that it has signed partnership agreements with five value-added reseller and system integrator partners in the Americas since the release of its EPCglobal Class 1, Generation 2-compliant labels. New partners, ranging from Canada in the north to Brazil in the south, include Xterprise, Venture Research, Rush Tracking Systems, Intelliwave, and Synergy, among others. The new partners find PowerID’s Gen. 2 BAP product portfolio compelling since it combines the high performance and reliability of a BAP label with support for standards-based Gen. 2 RFID readers. The partners are bundling PowerID’s labels into their RFID offerings. “The extended range and capabilities that PowerID products bring to market are opening up new use cases across many different verticals,” said Toby Rush, President of Rush Tracking Systems. “We are excited to be working with them as we advance the industry.” PowerID labels operate in the ultra high frequency (UHF) range (850-960 MHz). PowerID's BAP labels are designed to track challenging materials—such as liquids, metal, and paper—that can negatively affect the reliability of traditional RFID technology. PowerID’s partners now have a high-performing alternative to passive labels for their customers that need to track items containing these challenging materials.
"We have tested the PowerID offerings extensively in our validation lab and initial pilots and have established their benefit for applications that require Gen. 2 compatibility, but with an extended read range", stated John Baker, President of Venture Research.
The key to BAP's performance lies with PowerID's flexible battery technology, which enables readability in difficult environments while boosting the read range of the labels. BAP provides performance that is comparable to active RFID technology, but at a much lower price point and with better performance than those of passive RFID tags.
"Demand to join our partner network has been brisk in North America and South America following the release of our Gen. 2 BAP labels in April,” said Robert Kowalik, Director of Sales, Americas at PowerID. “We look forward to doing business with our new partners and to further expanding our channel with other VARs and system integrators.” Read more about our new partners on their websites:
