Erez Kahani, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kahani was nominated CEO of PowerID Ltd. after serving as Executive Vice President of Power Paper's PowerID Division from early 2006. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer of Power Paper for four and a half years, during which he led two major fund raising rounds. Before joining Power Paper in 2001, Mr. Kahani held management positions for 10 years as at Gilat Satellite Networks (Nasdaq: GILT), a world leader in satellite communications. In his capacity as director of business development, he worked with strategic partners in the USA and Europe, established and managed several joint ventures in China, and was involved in securing financing from several international partners. As controller, he was very involved in Gilat's initial public offering on Nasdaq and several follow-on public offerings. Mr. Kahani holds a B.A. in economics and business administration from Tel Aviv University, where he also completed three years of MBA studies.
Zvi Nitzan, Chief Technology Officer Mr. Nitzan is the inventor of PowerID's thin and flexible batteries. He co-founded Power Paper -- the company from which PowerID was spun off -- and served as its CTO since its inception. Mr. Nitzan was instrumental in developing Power Paper's manufacturing technologies and in integrating the battery into various devices, including cosmetics patches and RFID labels. He holds ten patents and co-patents in various fields, three of which are related to the Power Paper battery and its uses. Mr. Nitzan is an electronics engineer with 30 years experience in research and development of electronic products and systems. He began his career in the defense industry, where he was active for some 10 years (up to the level of Division Manager at Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd.), acquiring extensive expertise in sophisticated electronic systems, through the development of special advanced electronic warfare techniques and technologies. In 1980, he established Atir Ltd. and served as its VP and R&D Manager until 1997, where he developed and produced a tracking radar system intended for upper air meteorological and pollution monitoring.
Lior Rapaport, Vice President of Sales Mr. Rapaport brings to PowerID more than 12 years of experience in managing worldwide sales organizations. He was previously co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of a wireless automation startup company developing long range active RFID tags and also served as VP Sales and VP Business Development for various telecommunication startup companies. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of Gilat Satellite Networks Europe (NASDAQ: GILT), where he headed sales and marketing activities in the EMEA region.
Rafi Boneh, Vice President of Research & Development Mr. Boneh has over twenty years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including 12 years at Gilat Satellite Networks (NASDAQ: GILT) where he held a variety of R&D managerial positions and accumulated vast experience in satellite communications, large systems, project management, and hardware design. His last position at Gilat was Director of Hardware and Infrastructure, where he was responsible for the hardware platforms of the company. Before joining Gilat, Mr. Boneh served as a hardware engineer for five years at RUN - a communications startup company and member of the RAD Group - and as a design verification engineer for telecommunications systems with the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Mr. Boneh holds a B.Sc. with honors in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University.
Robert Kowalik, Director of Sales, Americas Mr. Kowalik brings to PowerID over 15 years of Enterprise Applications experience, with a primary focus on manufacturing, supply chain, and active RFID systems. Before joining PowerID, he led the American sales team at Ubisense, a leading RTLS vendor specializing in Ultra Wide Band based RFID location technology. Prior to that, Mr. Kowalik was director of sales at AeroScout, a leading provider of Wi-Fi-based Active RFID solutions. He has successfully sold into large organizations such as Boeing, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, US Steel, P&G, Alcoa, Toyota, Paccar, Lockheed Martin, and Newell Rubbermaid. Mr. Kowalik received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and his MBA from Loyola.
